Saturday, April 17, 2010 Today we have learnt a lot more on how to customise our webpage using CSS. Also, we were given the opportunity to try out how to change the codes ourselves. Though it took us a lot of time to figure it out, I'm sure that this has only increased our knowledge significantly on CSS. Specifically, my partner and I now have a better understanding on how to change a plain and simple background into one that is very colourful and much more attractive. We have also learnt how to change the colour of the header with a white text. Through this excercise, we now know how to adjust the width, font family and margins of the CSS file. I believe that this lesson is as important as the previous one. Without the knowledge of customising our webpage to make it more attractive, the plain one will serve no purpose as nobody would want to give a second glance due to its dullness. I believe that this lesson we have learnt today will prove to be very useful in the near future, especially when the world is turning into a age of technology. We have also engaged in customizing the webpages and making our own website without the assistance of any softwares. I have also understood the HTML codings and tags, how to add text, images, link and commenting on the website. We have now a greater understanding of how a HTML page is presented on the Internet. Through this exercise, we can now work together in a more efficient and orderly manner. It has become clearly to us what codes ought to be used when facing a specific problem. I believe that this lesson had proved to be rather important. It is also a new skill for most of us and may be beneficial to us in the future. IsaacPeh froze in time on 6:07 AM Friday, April 2, 2010 After today's lesson, I have now a better understanding of the terrors one can face at the rate technology is growing. At this impossibly alarming rate it is growing, I believe in no time the world is going to come to an abrupt end, where human do not know how to do the basic things like cooking and even to recognise his own car. Human will become over reliable on machines and technologies to such an extent that without them life cannot go on. Also, we have further discussed on the advantages and disadvantages of a webpage and a blog. In my opinon a webpage is more useful as compared to a blog. It is true that a blog is easily available to create and the additional designs like adding songs etc. can be readily found on the Internet, but lesser people will be visiting blogs. A webpage will prove to be more time consuming, and also, softwares need to be purchased in order to create websites. Unless one really wants to make the webpage, they will not want to spend their money in buying the softwares. However, I believe that bloggers are being constrained to what limited resources they have. It will be difficult to create one's own template, and many people will prefer to go to blogskins.com to choose the different templates available there. Webpages, on the other hand, has more creative designs and more attractive backgrounds. We can thus conclude that each has their own pros and cons. I've also gotten a better understanding on it's goal as to allow scientists to share information with each other at different locations. Although it first started as a big, bulky machine, who would have thought that it would become such a handy and light tool we know of today? It first became functional in the 1960's, whereby human started to develop in technology and as they progress the functions of a computer improved tremendously. It can now store much memory as before, over a wider range when communicating, and as I've mentioned earlier, is much lighter. Also, we now know better what the World Wide Web (www) is. Nowadays, we can even provide links to other people's website from our own! Here, I was also introduced to many other Web browsers which I've never known, such as 'Safari' and 'Opera'. Now, I have also been exposed to stuffs like virtual reality and E-commerce. In general, I think that this lesson had been an enjoyable and interesting one. Let's begin with the fact that I totally suck at IT, and to get an assignment from Mr Koh done I have to seek help from a friend of my dad. He is a pro at programming, and since this term we won't be doing any more programming, I realised that there would be nobody to help me. I have a personal blog, where I post all the crap about myself (http://snowkizz.blogspot.com/). Please do refrain from going to that blog because it's a complete waste of time. I also enjoy wasting my time away by customizing my personal blog, like adding songs and changing the template when I'm free. I strongly encourage blogger.com to provide us with more interesting templates, because I seriously think that the current ones are terrible. I support taking the facebook games down because I think that they are very very very lame and it would only contribute in dropping one's results. I believe that it would be wise to spend out time on our studies instead, or at least play something more meaningful. Finally, I do stuffs like customizing dedicated servers for everyone to play in :D But it's really simple. We just have to type in codes and commands to change the games.
